Ending Spring 2017 with a Bang!

May 17th, 2017

Spring 2017 started fast and furious! The first race of the season took place in Sarasota, Florida where the TriGators took on the usual teams from FCTC as well as the Naval Academy and Concordia University. Two weeks following the Turtleman Triathlon turned into a Duathlon as rip current cancelled the swim. But that did not stop Julia Daggett, Emily Moravec, Nic LeBlanc, and Chris Loy from stepping on the podium in the collegiate divisions. The week of March 26 TriGators competed in the FCTC Conference Championship were they claimed 1st in Female, Male, and Overall capping off a remarkable conference season. April 9th six TriGators competed in Ironman70.3 Florida all finishing with personal records and one visit to the medical tent. April 21-22 twelve TriGators travelled up to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to compete in the USAT Collegiate Club National Championships. Nic LeBlanc and Trevor Tilly competed Friday in the draft legal race where Nic led the pack in the bike and Trevor stylishly ran a great 5k. On Saturday the Olympic Distance Championships took place where all 12 athletes suffered through the heat, wind, and hills of Alabama leading to a 28th place finish. Goals are set high for next year as many TriGators have new training plans and races to better themselves in the coming year and defend the conference championship!
